A morning of meaningful steps and shared moments

The day began bright and early, as participants gathered in anticipation of the activities ahead. Runners took on the 5km RBC Race for the Kids, while families and friends enjoyed a leisurely 2km Fun Walk. Our youngest participants also brought plenty of energy and enthusiasm to the 100m Kids Dash.

Beyond the walk and race, participants enjoyed a lively morning of carnival activities, performances and family-friendly fun. Through the children’s rights-themed Stamp Rally and activity booths, they also discovered how children’s rights can be practised in everyday life.

Each activity offered an opportunity for participants to reflect on what it means to create spaces where children feel safe and confident to express themselves. Whether at home, in school or within the wider community, children should know that their thoughts and experiences matter.

At the heart of this year’s event was the theme, “Creating Spaces for Voices to Be Heard”, which highlighted every child’s right to express their views and have them taken seriously. By listening with openness and involving children in matters that affect them, we help them recognise that their voices matter and empower them to play an active role in shaping their lives.

Although the event has come to a close, let's continue to create safe spaces for children and youth to express themselves and, just as importantly, to listen to what they have to say.
